Pokémon Primary Schools’ Cup Finals 2025 – National Final roundup
The Pokémon Primary Schools’ Cup came to an exciting conclusion on Friday 16th May with 24 teams travelling to Stoke City FC with the hopes of being crowned National Champions for 2025.
The initial round of the Pokémon Primary Schools’ Cup kicked off in October with primary schools competing locally within their district for a place in the county rounds of the competition. These rounds were subsequently played across the country from December – February with the top two teams from each county qualifying for the regional finals. The regional finals, organised by ESFA Council Members across the North, Midlands, South East and South West of the country, found the top two teams from each of the three competition categories, who then progressed to the National Finals at Stoke City FC. Over 50,000 pupils played in the Pokémon Primary Schools’ Cup this season, giving every pupil a chance to develop their football skills and have fun with their friends.
The finals saw 8 teams from each of the 3 competitions, spilt into two groups to then play each other in a round robin format. The top two teams from each group progressed to the semi-finals and the winners played in one, final match to decide the champions. Plenty of footballing talent was on display throughout the day with special appearances from Pikachu adding to the excitement of both the players and the crowd, which was full of excited family and friends.
